The DQ-10 is an all-metal mini quick release adapter ideally suited for almost any point-and-shoot digital or film camera, a bridge camera or lightweight SLR system. The quick release plate can stay mounted to the camera at all times and will probably not be noticed due to it's compact, low-profile design.

I took a gamble buying this adapter, since the product description doesn’t provide any details. I bought a Slik Sprint tripod, which does not include any sort of quick-release, so I ordered this adapter with the hopes that it would be what I needed. It is exactly what I wanted, and more!

Here’s some vital information that the product page is lacking:

Construction material: die-cast aluminum (looks like plastic in the picture, but it isn’t)

    Camera attachment size: 1.1875″ x 1.5625″ x 0.25″

Thread size: 1/4-20 (compatible with almost all tripods and cameras)

The camera I am using this with is a Sony DSC-W290, which is a compact point-and-shoot camera. I didn’t want some huge gnarly attachment permanently fixed to the bottom of my tiny camera. It allows me to use my existing camera bags, since it doesn’t increase the overall camera size by very much.

As for the tripod attachment, it couldn’t possibly be an easier quick-release mechanism! Simply set the camera on it, and it clicks and locks it into place automatically. To release it, flip the lever and the camera pops right out. The camera does not wiggle at all when it is locked into place on the tripod. My camera is pretty light, but after trying to wiggle it around a bit, I’m confident that a heavier camera would be equally steady. It will probably work with and SLR, but not if you are using a heavy lens. Slik makes a heavier-duty quick-release (DQ-20) for heavier equipment.
