I have a big and sturdy Bogen; it is heavy. It is nonsensival to lug that thing around in the house just to put it on the floor without a whim of wind or shake and my digital SLR, point-and-shoot, or my camcorder on it. I don’t have a big and heavy device [anymore] tha requires a Bogen-style tripod. So, I had purchased a SLIK U6000 several years ago and used it happily before I turned it to my parents. I was about to buy another U-series SLIK when I noticed the new F series. Well, there are other new SLIK tripods as well and I did compare them all right. I settled on this one and when it arrived, it came with a carrying case (I won’t use it, but hey, I have it!).

I looked at, in priority order, weight, folded-length, full-length, number of leg-fragments, quick-release, folded thickness. Other regular tripod properties followed these (yes, I do take my tripod to hikes up the mountain and across river beds in desert).

I’m happy with the purchase and I’d recommend this to anyone.
